Join us at York Gate Garden with award-winning photographer Joan Ransleywho will teach you how to create stunning images of food & flowers capturing great shots using natural light. You will learn how to develop your own style and capture beautiful still life images using freshly harvested produce and carefully selected plants & foliage from the plot. The day will begin with a private tour with the head gardener Ben Preston, who will show you some of the hidden secrets of this gorgeous Arts and Crafts inspired design, he’ll share his passion of curating the garden and love of the natural beauty of nature at York Gate.

The workshop will be held both in the study classroom and outdoors, whatever the weather. We will be free to explore every inch of the plot, so warm clothing, waterproofs & sturdy footwear are a must. The morning session will be dedicated to still life shots using your tripod (don’t worry we will have spares for you to borrow) and close up shots for those who have a macro lens. The afternoon session will concentrate on how to get the best handheld shots while you are out and about. We’ll capture the head gardener at work, the vegetable plot, the tiny succulent house and colours emerging around the garden for the start of Spring.

This workshop is suitable for all levels, however, you should be familiar with the basic settings on your camera. Please bring your own tripod and selection of lenses if you have them. We will have a relaxed, fun and informative day as you learn how to get the most out of your camera and develop your skills in a very special location.

Our aim is for you to enjoy every inch of the garden, develop your skills and capture some stunning images as a reminder of your day at York Gate. This course will be for a small group. The gardens will be closed to the public during the course so you can enjoy a great day. All refreshments & lunch will be provided for you during your day.

Please arrive promptly at 9.15am so we can start our inspiring day of a full packed day. Please bring a laptop if possible along with clean. memory stick so we can share our images at the end of the day.

All refreshments and lunch will be provided during your day. (Please let us know if you are vegetarian in advance). Parking is freely available on the road near the church just five minutes walk from the garden.
